Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can the general public use a government dental clinic?
The Department of Health states that the general public may use the dental general public sessions, whose scope is relief of pain and tooth extraction (one tooth per visit), at designated clinics only. The other DH dental clinics serve civil servants, their dependants and pensioners, and primary schoolchildren through the School Dental Care Service.
How do I register for a general public session?
The department states that an online registration system launched on 30 December 2024 and the former "preliminary registration" ended the same day: nobody queues at a clinic for a disc any more, and quotas are allocated by computer ballot.
Is hospital dental care still with the Department of Health?
No. The department states that the Hospital Dental Service was integrated with the Hospital Authority's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service on 6 February 2026 and is now provided by the Hospital Authority.
How many Department of Health dental clinics are there?
51, according to the department's open data (synced weekly here), listed below by district. Which of them hold general public sessions is stated on the department's own page.
