Marriage registries — addresses, office hours and the fees for registering a marriage

To marry in Hong Kong you first give a Notice of Intended Marriage at a marriage registry, then hold the ceremony at a registry or before a civil celebrant. This page lists all 7 Immigration Department marriage registries with their office hours (each has its own page with the nearest MTR station) and sets out the department's published notice period, fees and booking channels.

Giving notice: the period and the fee

The Immigration Department states that a Notice of Intended Marriage must be given no earlier than 3 months and at least 15 days before the intended date; the notice stays valid for 3 months. Either party may give it in person at a marriage registry or through a civil celebrant of marriages. The prescribed fee for giving and exhibiting the notice is HK$305.

Ceremony fees

The department states a fee of HK$715 for a marriage celebrated at a registry during normal office hours (Monday to Friday and Saturday morning, except general holidays) and HK$1,935 outside them (Saturday afternoon at City Hall only, and Sunday). A ceremony before a civil celebrant has no prescribed fee; the parties agree it with the celebrant.
