"Hop In 車埋我" is a Hong Kong taxi meter simulator by Mikeneko Solutions, for Android and iOS. This page has the FAQ and how to reach us.

Questions, suggestions or deletion requests: use the "report" button on any facility on HK Utility Map and write "Hop In" plus your question in the note. We usually reply within a few days.

FAQ

The fare differs from the real taxi?: Expected. Hop In measures distance and speed with the phone’s GPS, which drifts in tunnels, between tall buildings and under flyovers; a real meter counts wheel turns. Treat it as a game — never argue a fare with it.
Does the meter stop when the screen is off or I switch apps?: No. Android keeps a foreground service (you will see the notification) and iOS uses background location until you tap Finish. If the system kills the app, reopening rebuilds the trip from its journal.
Why does it need location?: Without GPS there is no distance or speed. The app does not read location until you tap Hire. If you would rather not grant it, Settings has a demo mode that runs the meter on a simulated drive.
Where did the FPS QR go?: Removed in 0.3.10; the app no longer has any payment or money-collection feature. On update it deletes any FPS payee details an earlier version stored on the phone.
What is "share trip statistics"? Can it identify me?: Off by default. When on (or when you tap "upload this trip"), the trip’s fare, distance, time, start/end, GPS route, phone model and app version go to our server to improve the app. Nothing identifies you or the phone. Section 7 of the privacy statement has the details.
How do I delete my data?: On the phone: delete trips one by one or clear the history, or uninstall. Uploaded trips: take the trip’s id from History › the trip › Export trip data (JSON) and send it to us; we delete that record. Without the id we cannot tell which records are yours.
Is the live-share link protected?: No. Anyone with the link can watch the position and fare while the share is live. It expires when the trip ends, or after 12 hours at most.
Can I change the tariffs?: Yes. The Tariffs tab lets you edit flagfall, steps, tolls and surcharges, duplicate a preset, or create your own (including flat-fare red minibuses). When the Transport Department revises fares, an app update replaces the built-in tariffs automatically.

Version

The version number is under Settings › About. When reporting a problem, include it with your phone model and roughly when it happened. Package: io.mikeneko.hopin.
